Flood Details - 1800-09-01 - 1800-09-02

Sackville Area: "From Point de Bute across the marsh to Sackville, the marsh was frequently (from the overflowing of water) a complete sea...I had to cross six or seven miles of overflowed marsh...I was obliged to have a guide, who rode before me with a long pole in his hand, which as the waters were muddy, he frequently plunged to the bottom, some distances before him, as to ascertain the vicinity and direction of the creeks or dykes" (Sackville United Church Records 1838-1958). Note: dates unknown, but listed as "Flood of fall, 1800".
