Affected Areas

Southeastern New Brunswick: As a result of high winds and tides, some flooding occurred in many waterfront areas. Floodwaters were reported to be 0.9 metres deep at one cottage by the lighthouse at Parlee Beach. Many cottages were empty so other flooding may not have been reported. Flooding occurred at the Pointe du Chene bridge, near the post office. The high tide in the Shediac area occurred at 13:00 hours which exacerbated the effects of the high winds.
Shediac Area: In Shediac, winds were measured at 80 km per hour, with gusts to 115 km per hour. A rainfall of 67 mm occurred over a 24 hour period, ending on the evening of June 23. In Shediac Bay, water levels were reported to be 0.6 to 1.2 metres above normal, and boaters at the marina described it as the worst storm they had seen in almost 20 years. The Moncton weather office described the nature of the storm as rare for the month of June, but not uncommon in the fall.
One small boat moored outside the Shediac marina was cast adrift into the surf. The Department of Transportation reported highway damages from this storm to be in the order of $89,000. No description of these damages were obtained.
