Sussex Area: Turbulent flood waters of Ward's Creek caused considerable damage to the concrete bridge on Main Street, just upstream of the Agricultural School. The centre pier was reported to have dropped almost two feet [0.6 m] below its normal level. It was stated that the structure was constructed in 1929. Reports from Sussex Corner, indicated that no problems were encountered at the temporary bridge in that community.
Rain and melting snow (mild temperatures).
During the month of November, total snowfall recorded at Sussex was 34 inches [84 cm], while 36.3 inches [92.2 cm] was reported at Fredericton. The first eleven days of December were very mild with temperatures in the high 40s and 50s Farenheit. A 0.85 inch rainfall was reported at Sussex on December 6.
No estimates of damage to the structure over Ward's Creek were presented.
