An ice-jam was formed in Stickney on April 24th. The ice formed a mountain in the backyard of Mr. Manderville Bell, a resident of Stickney. The total event took place in five minutes. Miramichi River Basin: An ice jam on the Southwest Miramichi River at the mouth of the Renous River resulted in the inundation of Route #8 for a distance of about one mile. Several houses along the floodplain of the Renous River were threatened and at least one was surrounded by flood waters. An ice jam had lodged at Millerton during the fall, after a thaw caused ice to run in the river. It was reported that this ice jam at the mouth of the Renous River was caused when ice from upstream reached the solid ice cover that extended downstream to Millerton, the site of a previous ice jam.

The backyard of Mr. Bell's house was filled with a large ice-mountain on April 24th (see photo attached). The ice jam began to form early on April 26, and broke under its own pressure on the evening of the 27th. The flooded section of Route #8 was inundated to a depth of between six and eight feet [1.8 m and 2.4 m].
In Stickney, the railway crossing road was blocked by ice water. A barn was damaged, and a cow was killed in Mr. Bell's barn. No estimates of damage were presented.
