Saint John Area: Minor flooding was reported in the Saint John area in some low-lying areas, such as: Loch Lomond Road, Bayside Drive, Rothesay Avenue and Haymarket Square. City work crews were able to clear plugged drains and prevent any serious flooding. Widespread power outages also occurred leaving some 32 000 customers without service for various lengths of time.
Violent thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and heavy rain.
The N.B. Electric Power Commission officials reported the storm as being "the worst electrical storm in five years". About 30 millimetres of rain fell during the storm, including 13.6 millimetres in five minutes.
No estimates of the damage were presented. Lightning caused minor damage to at least five Saint John area residences during the height of the storm
