Sources: The Sackville Post 1945/04/20. The dates of flooding were estimated to within a few days due to a lack of precise information. Sackville Area: Unusually high tides, accompanied by strong winds, resulted in flooding of the marshland between Sackville and Amherst, Nova Scotia. The dykes were reported as being overtopped, with breaks occurring at some locations. Workers were able to repair the breaks between high tides and minimize the damage.

It was reported that the high tide reached a level of 27.8 feet [8.5 m], "one of the highest peaks known to have occurred in a number of years". On four other days during this flood, the high tides reached levels of 27 feet [8.2 m] or higher.
Hundreds of acres of hay fields were reported to be flooded.
