Affected Areas

Saint John Area: In Saint John, low-lying sections of the City experienced flooding because of the heavy rains and high tides. Catch basins were unable to handle the volume of water. When the tide went out, the water gradually ran off. Basement flooding was quite common throughout, and firemen pumped basements on Westmorland Road and Golden Grove Road. Thorne Avenue and Gilbert Street were inundated posing a problem to motorists.
Water was reported to have reached depths of two feet to three feet [0.2 m to 0.3 m] on parts of Thorne Avenue.
