Oromocto River Basin: An ice jam in the Oromocto River caused widespread flooding at Hoyt, isolating several farms in the area and inundating barns. Kennebecasis River Basin: Several ice jams occurred in the Kennebecasis River Basin causing flooding along Trout Creek in the Sussex area. Several roads, fields and most interval lands were inundated. Near Sussex Corner, approximately 26 families were flooded out of their homes when an ice jam formed at the Sussex Corner bridge. Most of these families were located in Brown¿s Trailer Park on the west side of Trout Creek. The other homes affected were located on Cunningham Avenue. Parson's Brook spilled over its banks on Upper Main Street, flooding the fields and encircling several properties. Saint John Area: At Saint John, many basements were flooded because of blocked drainage systems. Works Department crews and fire department employees were busy pumping out basements and clearing storm drains. On Rothesay Avenue, the worst flooding occurred near Medjucks Furniture and Appliances Limited. Other flooded portions were near the Ponderosa Steak House and Deluxe French Fries. Some flooding was also reported in Fairvale. The Old Hampton Road was flooded in some locations and one of the worst sections was at East Riverside. Flooding in Glen Falls was only in specific areas. The worst problems were on Brown Street, Ashburn Lake Road and Glen Road. Only one family was reported to have evacuated their home. Moncton Area: Some basement flooding was reported in the Riverview area of Moncton.
A rainfall of at least 2.62 inches [66.5 mm] was recorded at Saint John. Near Ashburn Lake, Marsh Creek was at a level that was within six inches [approx. 150 mm] of the bridge.
