Saint John River Basin: In the Saint John River Basin, high water halted ferry service at Gagetown and Burton. In Fredericton, cars at the rear of the Capital Garage, Campbell Street, were partly submerged. Route 9 was under water at Jemseg and the highway between McGowan's Corner and Lakeville Corner was submerged. Flood conditions existed throughout the Maugerville-Sheffield area but no reports of damage were presented. Cottages in the French Lake area were surrounded by water. Miramichi River Basin: In the Miramichi River Basin, the river was reported to be at freshet height but roads and railway lines were not blocked.
Levels on the Saint John River were higher during the second half of May than during the spring freshet of this year. Peak stage at Fredericton was 22.0 feet [6.71m] while the maximum daily mean discharge at Pokiok reached 187 000 cubic feet per second [approx. 5 300m3/s].
