On 13th March, many parts of central and southern New Brunswick experienced a rain storm. This caused localized flooding in some communities. Northside Fredericton residents witnessed localized flooding on Cliffe Street, Fieldstone Court, and in areas of Leo Hayes High School. An ice jam along the Naskwaak River caused localized flooding in the Stanley area late in the day on March 14 and overnight. The ice jam occurred a few kilometres up the Nashwaak River from the village. About 35 people were evacuated from a dozen homes and businesses by the Stanley Fire Department. The Stanley fire hall was affected by flooding but services continued to operate. On March 15th, schools in the Stanley area remained closed because of water on local roads. Mail service was temporarily interrupted. The Mayor of Stanley, Mark Foreman, noted that similar flooding happened in the 70s and 80s and previous ice-jams lasted for an hour or two of forming but this event was sustained and caused major flooding in the lower part of the village.
