Affected Areas

Warm temperatures and heavy rains contributed to melting of snow along rivers in several areas of New Brunswick. This caused flooding along some of the province's waterways, roadways and village. In the Village of Sussex Corner, the Skyline Acres subdivisions had 52 homes affected by flooding. Catherine MacLeod said the only flooding she had before was in 1986. Her basement was flooded with 6 inches of water. The Memramcook River and its tributaries overflowed closing the road in and out of Upper Dorchester. 17 households were affected by the road closure. Section of Route 106 between Sackville and Dorchester was closed due to flooding. Tara Veach of Upper Dorchester said the water over the road was more than one metre deep. From Drummond to Dieppe, ice jams and fast-flowing melt waters inundated a number of backyards and roads. In Dieppe, a section of Acadie Avenue between Chartersville Road and du Marche Street was partially flooded. In North Western New Brunswick, near Drummond, a few properties were flooded due to ice jam along the Salmon River. Several locations in and around the Fredericton area had road closures from localized flooding. Roads were flooded and closed near French Lake, outside Fredericton and in Debec. In Bloomfield near Norrad's Bridge a few camps were impacted by flooding. In Hoyt, a section of Route 101 was closed because of high water from the South Oromocto River. The following roads were closed to traffic because water was over the road: • The MacDonald Road in South Canaan off Route 112 • The McLean Flat Road at Durham Bridge off Route 628 • Salmon River Road at the intersection of 123 and 116 to the intersection of Route 116 and 126 • The Cox Point Road, off Route 10 in Cumberland Bay • The New Dominion Road off Route 10 in Cumberland Bay • The Sunpoke Road intersection of Mersereau and French Lake Road • McDougall and Lewin Roads near Debec • The Dewitt Road, between Sunpoke and Post Road • Two kilometres of the McDougall Road in Debec • Post Road from the intersection of the Mast Road to the intersection of Dewitt Road and a portion of the Peltoma Lake Road in Upper Tracy.
