Sources: The Sackville Post 1916/08/15. Sackville Area: Unusually high tides caused flooding of the marshland and damage to the dykes. The flooding destroyed a large quantity of hay, and a number of farmers had to move hay to higher ground to prevent further damage. The dykes near Aulac were reported as being damaged as well, and large areas of the marsh were flooded. The roads across the marsh near Aulac were also inundated in places.
