Affected Areas

Saint John Area: Runoff from rain caused localized flooding. In many areas, drainage was hampered by wet snow and ice in ditches, and frozen ground prevented water from being absorbed into the earth. Some catch basins became clogged with wet snow. Precipitation from the storm fell as snow initially, then changed to rain in the afternoon. Parts of Lorneville and the area around Haymarket Square was flooded. Flooding also occurred on sections of Station Street, Somerset Street, and City Road across from the Colonial Inn. City crews tended to between 50 and 100 calls regarding localized flooding. A private business had nine calls for assistance in pumping out flooded basements.
The basement of a home in Lorneville was flooded to a depth of 0.15 metres.
No estimates of the flood damage were reported.
