Affected Areas

Middle River: An ice jam caused flooding of several homes on Roberts Road, near Bathurst, from April 23 to at least April 24. About five houses had flooded basements, but a few were affected more severely. The street also flooded. One resident was trapped in his house until April 24 when a bulldozer was used to bring him out. Previously, two ice jams had formed on Middle River in late January. Saint John River: Minor flooding occurred in the Sainte-Anne-de-Madawaska area on April 24 as broken ice accumulated over a distance of 30 km in the river. Minor flooding also occurred in low lying areas downstream of Fredericton. The Sunpoke Road was closed from French Lake to Rusagonis on April 18 due to flooding.
Middle River: Floodwaters were over one metre deep in the front yard of the Daigle home. The owner stated "it was the third time he had been flooded in the 13 years he had lived there". He was last flooded two years before.
Middle River: One home owner planned to move his house across the street to higher ground at a cost of about $18 000. He stated "the previous flood, two years before, had caused approximately $14 000 damages, and that he had received government compensation of approximately $2 000".
