Saint John Area: A rainstorm, with high winds and unusually warm temperatures, caused flooding of at least 20 basements in the city. The fire department responded to six calls for assistance in pumping out flooded basements.
Saint John Area: Some 38.8 mm of rain fell on January 7, and winds reached speeds of 93 to 110 km per hour. The temperature reached nine degrees Celsius. The basement of one house on Sandy Point Road was flooded to a depth of 1.2 metres. The owner said the flooding was not unusual as the house was located in a gully, and had flooded about a year before.
