Affected Areas

Saint John Area: The rain caused flooding of a few basements. Assistance was provided by the city fire department. In one case, a new channel was chopped through accumulations of ice and snow, allowing water from a flooded back yard to flow away from the house. Moncton Area: Warmer temperatures and rain resulted in the melting of a very large accumulation of snow. The meltwater caused street flooding in low-lying areas, such as Waterloo and Bridge streets, and Lewisville near Elmwood Drive. The underpass at the causeway connecting Moncton and Riverview also flooded.
Reports indicated 43.8 mm of rain fell in Saint John, and basement flooding ranged from from 5 to 15 cm deep. In Moncton, floodwaters reached depths of 0.45 metres at some locations.
