Saint John Area: Flooded yards, basements and roads plagued eastern areas of Saint John over the two day period. The areas reported to be the hardest hit were Golden Grove, Glen Falls and the Rothesay Avenue district. Some dirt roads in the Martinon area and the Sproul Road were washed out. A debris blockage at the Marsh Creek bridge contributed to the flooding in the Glen Falls area.
A spokesman for the weather office reported that a total of 90.2 mm of rain fell during the two days. The rainfall included two major falls with a six hour break in between. The rainfall on October 2 was 58.7 mm which broke the old standard of 41.7 mm set in 1887 for October 2.
No estimates or detailed description of the flood damage were presented. However, the general superintendent of operations of the works department was quoted as saying "we had five bad areas out there this time (Glen Falls), while usually we have about 20 bad areas".
