Northeastern New Brunswick: A combination of unusually high tides and high winds caused some flooding of wharves and low-lying areas in Restigouche County. At Eel River Bay, a section of Route #11 was inundated and a plow was required to clear the pavement of debris. In Campbellton, an area adjacent to the Interprovincial Bridge was inundated. Wharves along the shoreline and the retaining walls of the Riverview Park were battered by the high waves. Cribbing along shorefront properties of Ramsay Street was damaged.
A spokesman for the meteorological office at Charlottetown Airport stated: "the unusual circumstances were produced by winds in the vicinity of 40 miles per hour [64 km/hr] and tides five or six feet [1.5m - 1.8m] above the average high tide mark".
No estimates of the flood damage were given in the newspaper accounts, however, a spokesman for the Campbellton Detachment of the R.C.M.P, stated that "some damage was possible". Records of the provincial Emergency Measures Organization indicate that in 1976, approximately a dozen residents of Ramsay Street received compensation totaling $14 310 for crib repair resulting from this storm.
