In northern New Brunswick, rivers swelled as a result of the rain. The damages resulting in northern New Brunswick were considered to be light. Restigouche River Basin: In the Restigouche River Basin, six families were isolated at Wyers Brook by floodwaters. Saint John River Basin: In the Saint John River Basin, an ice jam occurred three miles [4.8km] south of Perth-Andover and in these communities, water reached the back doors of some houses near the river. An extensive ice jam occurred on the Aroostook River at Fort Fairfield, Maine. Damage was largely confined to flooded basements through back-up of the storm sewers. Access to the Town's garage was blocked and the C.P.R. tracks to Aroostook Junction, New Brunswick, were inundated. Three families in the area were evacuated from their homes by boat. Several families in Washburn, Maine, were also evacuated from their homes as a result of an ice jam. Southwestern New Brunswick: In southwestern New Brunswick, most of the damage was a result of the wind. Power failures, fallen trees, and a few flooded basements in the Elm Street area of St. Stephen.
The flood damage in Maine was estimated to be in the order of $40 000.
