Sackville Area: At Sackville, streets in the lower section of town were covered with up to eight inches [approx. 200mm] of water. The Lorne Street pumping station was inundated and damaged. The town was reported to be without power for about four hours. The Tantramar River was swollen to "bank full". A section of Route 106, at Frosty Hollow, was flooded with almost two feet [0.6m] of water.
A rainfall of 3.25 inches [82.6mm] was reported for Sackville in a 24 hour period.
No estimates of the flood damage were presented. The failure of the Lorne Street pumping station was attributed to damages incurred to the equipment during the flood of March 31 to April 4, 1962, when it was inundated to a depth of 15 feet [4.6m].
