Affected Areas

Sackville Area: In the Town of Sackville, the heavy rain resulted in some basement flooding. However, no serious damage was reported. Sections of St. James Crescent, St. Charles and Lorne streets were inundated as well as the low lying marshlands. Route 106 was flooded in the Frosty Hollow area. High tides, which passed through breaks in the dykes, contributed to the flooding in this area.
Heavy rainfall. The effects of this flood were probably exaggerated because of the saturated soils and residual high water from the previous event earlier in 1962. Also, broken dykes allowed high tides to inundate some low lying areas.
About two inches [approx. 50mm] of rain was reported in the Sackville area. This was the second flood in Sackville during the past week.
