On 2-3 August, a number of roads, bridges and culverts were damaged due to torrential rains and flash floods. The flash flood mainly affected the northwestern part of the province, the Grew Brook in Saint-François-de-Madawaska, Route 166 near Harcourt, Route 116 in Salmon River Road near Harcourt, Pacific Junction Road in Berry Mills, Old Bridge Road in Nackawic, the Miramichi area, and Highway 205 near Petite-Rivière in Madawaska County. Dozens of cottagers along Route 205 that runs along the St. John River had to be air lifted to safety after roads were washed out.
Heavy rainfall resulted in flash flooding along the Glazier River in the St. Francois area and along Route 205 near the Quebec border.
Climate stations in the north reported over 150 mm of rainfall, with the center of the storm and most intense rainfall occurring near St. Francois de Madawaska where radar estimates indicated as much as 250 mm of rain could have fallen.
Flood damages exceeded $3 million with damages to roads and properties. A bridge along Route 205 was washed out and forced several residents to leave their homes. 32 property owners reported damages in the Madawaska area.
