On 25th October, heavy rain and high winds affected New Brunswick, contributing to one of the wettest Octobers on record. Hydro utilities reported more than 6,000 customers without electricity in New Brunswick. Some Moncton residents experienced sewer backup after high winds caused leaves to block catch basins. In Saint John, several streets and homes flooded after 116 mm of rainfall. Firefighters responded to more than 30 calls for flooded basements filled with more than a metre of sewer water. One store owner said she had never seen such flooding in 32 years.
Heavy rainfall, high winds, and high tides caused flooding. In north-end suburb of Moncton, some blamed the problem was due to 35-year old pipes not being able to contain the flow of water.
