Sussex Area: The following excerpt was carried in the February 17, 1893 edition of The Kings County Record: "The rains of Friday caused the water in the small streams to rise suddenly and the roads and fields were in many places flooded. The cellars of many of the stores and dwellings were filled with water and in a few instances some damage was done to the contents." The article limited its description of the flooding to the Sussex area.
