Affected Areas

A section of Acadie Avenue in Moncton was barricaded at about 12:15 p.m. on March 12th due to localized flooding from a heavy overnight rainfall. The closure affected the stretch of street between Chartersville Road and du Marché Street. On the 13th, more than 38 centimeters of water remained on some parts of the road. To make matters worse, one of the dykes in the area was not working properly and one culvert was completely blocked and not draining. Acadie Avenue is one of the major high traffic streets in Dieppe, seeing anywhere from 20,000 to 25,000 vehicles per day. City officials were suggesting that people driving to work on the 14th leave at least 45 minutes earlier than usual to avoid being late. In other areas of the province, Route 106 in Memramcook was closed on the 13th due to water over the road. A secondary highway near Dorchester was also flooded and water was over the road at Anderson Mill Road and parts of the Pointe-du-Chêne Wharf Road.
