Affected Areas

Warm temperatures and heavy rains caused ice in the Tobique River to move in the Plaster Rock area over the December 14th weekend, resulting in some localized flooding. About five kilometers of river ice jammed just below the Linton Flats area, causing water and ice to back up into some fields. A section of Route 390 between Wapske Bridge and the Village of Plaster Rock was closed from the 15th at 7:45 p.m. until the 16th at 8:45 a.m., due to water over the road.
Environment Canada rainfall totals for December 14th: Doaktown: 40.4 mm Miramichi: 36.5 mm Bathurst: 30.7 mm Woodstock: 29.0 mm
Several homes and properties in the affected area had water in their basements.
