A severe thunderstorm and flash flooding left many residents of the City of Edmundston with wet basements and flooded streets on June 29th. Seventy-two millimeters of rain fell on the city, with nearly 60 millimeters falling in under an hour in the early evening. The northeastern part of the city was hit hardest with flooded roads and basements. Approximately 50 homes were damaged by the water. One homeowner said he has at least 12 centimeters of water in his basement. Olivier Boucher Road, Bishop Dionne Street and Bossé Street were hit particularily hard with numerous washouts and access to the Le Petit Témis bike path via Victoria Street was washed away.

Public Safety estimates damages from the storm at $1.1 million.
