High tides combined with heavy run-off flooded a section of west Main Street in Moncton early on April 16th. Traffic was rerouted until the flood waters receded.
The crosswalk crossing Jonathan Creek was also closed after being weakened by flood waters. The frozen ground had not been able to absorb any water from the rain and spring melt, leading to flood conditions in the city.
A warning was issued to farmers in the Petitcodiac estuary area to move machinery and livestock from areas near the river.
